Although Sculley vessels are all custom built, the
company has always focused on, and become famous for, luxurious interiors. The new series of vessels, currently offered in 54’
and 60’ versions, will feature a very utilitarian interior floor plan with
large open space and oversized storage areas that can be compartmentalized at a
later date. This makes the vessels more
economical and a better fit for serious fishermen who are more focused on
functionality and not on luxury. The vessels will in all other respects be identical in fit and
finish to the rest of the Sculley fleet.
A single layout will be offered with “add-ins”
available to fit the interior for an owners particular needs. Although the “add-ins are limited, Sculley
promises to offer an endless list of options available to the client to dress
the interior. With the unlimited
variety of laminates, veneers, fabrics, solid surfaces, wall and floor
coverings available to the owner, Sculley promises that no two boats will look
alike. “Our clients are used to getting
what they want in look and feel” says engineer and designer, Jim Polatty, “but
not everyone wants all the high-end luxury items that are synonymous with our
Custom line of boats. The Tournament
line allows those individuals that want the Sculley experience, but are not
hung up on luxury and say, maybe moving a sink 10” left.”
Sculley has
gained a lot of attention, not only for their interiors but also for the fine
vessels they build. Sculley boats perform very well in heavy seas, providing an
unusually smooth ride without sacrificing speed. When properly powered they
also feature great economy in fuel consumption coupled with ample and
well-placed fuel storage, giving Sculley boats unusual range and endurance.
These features make the Sculley Sportfisherman very attractive to the
tournament angler as well as the weekend sportfisherman, who often have to
travel great distances in all kinds of weather to practice their sport.
