Designing a Sculley Sportfisherman

There is no single craft on the market today that has the flexibility of design and customization than the boats built by Sculley Boatbuilders. In fact, the most important part of the creation of every Sculley craft is the time taken to design every aspect of the boat, from keel to cabinets, before the first jig is cut.

Each boat is built to fit the requirements and needs of the individual who orders it. When asked, How is a Sculley boat created? Jim Sculley had this to say: "The building of a Sculley boat is all about the design stage. It is there that each boat takes on its unique character that matches with the individual who ordered it.

The client comes to us with a request and we take it through the design stages. We start off by sitting down with the client and finding out how he plans on using the boat, what accommodations will be required, and what length best fits his needs." "We build whatever length boat you desire. It's a big package to put together. There's about 6 weeks in the design stage, then 6 to 8 weeks of CAD work, then the jigs get cut and we can start production."

Chief Operating Officer Jim Polatty personally walks each client through the design stage of every Sculley boat. With Polatty's considerable experience in boat building (please see bio), the client is sure to receive expert guidance during the design process. The Sculley philosophy is simple, "Our Ride, Your Vision", and Jim Polatty is the man who makes it happen.

Every Sculley Sportfisherman does have one thing in common, the smooth ride and exceptional seaworthiness you expect from a Carolina Sportfisherman. When asked how Sculley Boatbuilders achieves such a consistent ride from every craft they build, Jim Sculley had this to say: "We send all of our designs out to naval architects, they do performance tests on every model to give us the expected performance statistics on the craft. Our hull is already a proven design that has, if anything, exceeded our performance expectations."

There is, without question, no other boat on the market that achieves the combined level of performance, durability, and luxury attainable by a Sculley boat. Please feel free to talk to us about designing the sportfishing yacht you have always dreamed of owning.
